Time Travel

H. G. Wells introduced me to the idea of moving around in time with his book, THE TIME MACHINE. After that, I read other stories that played with the concept - such as THE DOOR INTO SUMMER by Robert Heinlein and UP THE LINE, by Robert Silverberg. I was fascinated with the subject, and when I began writing, I thought about using time travel in a book of my own. My first venture into this realm, PRINCE OF TIME, had a different take on the basic theme.

MIDNIGHT MAGIC (ISBN: 0765354853, Tor, May 2006) is a collection of three novellas all connected by a painting with magic powers. When the artist of this painting finished it, he walked into his creation and was never seen again.

In Rebecca York's “Second Chance” Sara Drimmon encounters a painting a year after Matthew Tripplehorn, the man she loved, was killed in a fire that she knows was arson. The painting sends her back to the time before Matt was killed. Now she has a chance to figure out who murdered him--and save his life. But her strange behavior makes Matt doubt her motives–and her sanity. She feels like she’s on a speeding train that’s doomed to crash. But she can’t stop it.

OUT OF NOWHERE (ISBN: 0373227655, Harlequin Intrigue, April 2004) focuses on a tough, wounded, bewildered heroine named Annie, who survives a terrible ordeal only because a man named Max Dakota loves her enough to fight for her life.

Annie literally drops into Max’s life when she appears to fall from a bridge into a river where he’s fishing. She’s got a vital mission to carry out. The trouble is, she can’t remember what it is. And the nasty, bitter people who trained her have drummed into her that she can trust no one. Max Dakota has to work his way under her prickly exterior and prove to her that her only chance of success is with him–and a team from Randolph Security and 43 Light Street, who volunteer to help her. But when they find out the terrible secret she’s hiding, the truth challenges even their considerable resources.
